We are excited to bring the first ultra to Guntersville State Park! Guntersville is a magnificent 6,000+ acre park with over 30 miles of single track trails! Lake Guntersville State Park is also referred to as the most beautiful place in Alabama and the "Crown Jewel" of the Alabama State Park system. This course is very spectator friendly compared to most trail events. There are several park access roads to cheer on friends and family at multiple spots. There are several bluff views with beautiful mountain and lake scenery.

Several aid stations will be provided on the course with everything from water, Gatorade, coke to GU, pretzels, m&m's, granola bars and more. Follow the race on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RunningLaneEvents/

Weather & Cutoffs: These are low-traffic trails, so we expect this race to go off rain or shine. In the event of severe weather (highly unlikely in February) we will delay the start as necessary to avoid lightening. If severe weather threatens the entire day and does not appear to let up, we may be forced to cancel. However this is not typical for this area during this time of year.

Average Temperatures: Low: 31F, High: 55F

There will be a cutoff for the 50K at 8 hours. This works out to be 15:28/mi pace. With the 50K course consisting of 2.5 loops, if the runner does not complete the final loop at the cutoff pace, they will be pulled from the event. The 3.5 mile and Half marathon do not have cutoffs. NOTICE the 3.5 mile race starts at 8:30am, 30 minutes after the 50K and Half.

Post Race Meal & Lodging:

There will be snacks at the finish line such as fruits and cookies. The post race meal will be inside the Lodge. Runners have the option of purchasing a meal ticket at checkout. In the morning a continental breakfast will be provided with purchase of meal ticket. Later in the morning they will transition to a soup & salad bar with beverage for the late morning and lunch crowds. These will be $8.95 per person + taxes, the total price per meal ticket is $10.74.

The Guntersville State Park Lodge is a magnificent resort with fabulous views. ALL runners will receive deeply discounted lodging rates of $85.00 for bluff view rooms with two beds and $75.00 for park side rooms with one queen bed. Rates reflect occupancy by up to 2 people, there is a $10 per person charge for each additional person. Check-in begins at 4:00pm and guests may check out any time before 11:00am.

You will need to contact the Guntersville State Park Lodge to make reservations: 256-505-6621. To ensure you get the special discounted rate, please mention you are running Eagle Ridge - GROUP CODE 7192. You may also make reservations online at https://guestrez.megahotel.com/Hotel/Reservation/Index/P3R24. Please note that a deposit is required for each reservation. Deposits are the sum of one night's lodging plus taxes and are due at time reservation is made.

Volunteers: It takes an army to put on an event like this and we are always needing volunteers. ALL volunteers will receive a RunningLane shirt, food and 25% discount into any future RunningLane events. If you have a family member running and you wish to volunteer, they can use the discount at future races as well.

Parking: The park has asked that everyone park at the Eagles Nest Golf Course parking lot in the designated areas shown in the picture below. When this lot fills up runners may park at the Lodge but this is a last resort to avoid conflict with other park visitors. Runners may use the lobby of the Lodge to stay warm prior to the race but we ask that you get there early to allow for the roughly 5 minute walk from the golf course parking lot. The lodge address is 1155 Lodge Dr, Guntersville AL, 35976

Holli

My coach, Brandon, has really motivated me to get into shape.  He gave me a simple walking plan and eventually I was jogging!  I was able to work into my busy schedule....and with two kids and working full-time, that is a hard thing to do.  Over time I’ve been able to go longer distances and I am looking forward to doing my first 5K this spring.  Thank You RunningLane!!!!
