Eagle Ridge Weekend Recap

This weekend, we hosted the 2nd Annual Eagle Ridge 50k, half marathon and 5k at the beautiful Guntersville State Park. Guntersville State Park is a 6,000+ acre park with over 30 miles of single track trails. Lake Guntersville State Park is also referred to as the most beautiful place in Alabama and the "Crown Jewel" of the Alabama State Park system. Our events featured some gorgeous views, big climbs, and fast and fun racing. Multiple course records went down this weekend despite rain 24 hours before the race.

Race Start

RunningLane coach, Justyna Mudy-Mader ran away with the 50k race and ran an overall event record by over 17 minutes. Martin Schneekloth  also set a new 50k event record on the men's side. In the half marathon Dylan Taylor ran away with the overall win and Carrie McCary won the women's race. Daniel Wilcox and Ginny Kelly took the 5k wins.

One of the things we love about this race is seeing people enjoy racing at all levels and distances. It truly is an all day community running event. The Guntersville State Park Lodge provides discounted rooms for runners to stay at the night before the race. We have volunteers cooking soup and chili for runners to enjoy post race, and we have numerous volunteers out on the course supporting runners in their race pursuits. Please enjoy some of our favorite photos courtesy of John Alderman.

Thank you to all runners and volunteers for making this weekend spectacular. We look forward to having you back next year.

You guys put on a great event. I'm just honored that you keep letting me help out and be involved in them. Summer plans are scheduled around Grand Viduta, Wild Thangs, and Wade Mountain. Love running in your events, and we really enjoy working them as well.

I was a 2:27 marathoner that seemed to have hit the ceiling. It seemed that I couldn't break that time. I ran a 2:20 marathon this past fall and a big reason for that success was due to coaching and guidance. Coaching is like having a second set of eyes on a problem.

As an active duty service member we are taught "Attention to Detail." I was focusing on my stronger attributes while neglecting my weaker ones. My personal coach pointed a few things out and changed a few of my workouts and like magic; I smashed my PR in the marathon.
